From the Director of Counseling

Dear Students and Parents,

Our School Counseling program is committed to the Academy’s mission to empower young women and prepare them for leadership positions in our society.  We assist each student in developing individual goals that will allow her to achieve her fullest potential, both personally and academically. School counselors meet regularly with students on a one-to-one basis, working to ensure that specific educational needs and expectations are met. While course selection and college planning are always a priority, the counseling department also addresses many other student concerns; counselors are always available to discuss the wide variety of issues (personal, social, or academic) that affect young women today.

From the moment a freshman enters the halls of the Academy, the Counseling Department provides support to make sure that she is successful, fulfilled, and challenged.  This begins with bi-weekly Freshman Guidance meeting, which addresses the needs and questions of our newest students, and continues through Junior and Senior meetings for both parents and students, navigating the college search and application process.

All Academy students use Naviance, a guidance and career counseling program that helps to connect academic achievement to post-secondary goals.  The program utilizes comprehensive college and career planning solutions to optimize student success and streamline the college application process.

The Counseling staff works collaboratively with faculty to provide our students with the tools they need to reach their fullest potential beyond the Academy’s doors.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question or an issue. I look forward to working with all of you.
