Champion Fundraiser

For the past two months, I have worked with my teammates, Patric Hyland and Ryleigh Flinn, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year Campaign. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Its mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. LLS  funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

The goal of this campaign was for the selected students and teams to raise the most amount of money possible while also raising awareness of cancer and the work of LLS. On Friday, March 9, my team announced our fundraising total of $115,000 for LLS. Beyond our efforts, the grand total for the New Jersey Student of the Year campaign was $340,291. Along with being named 2018 Students of the Year, my teammates and I each received a $10,000 college scholarship, and we will continue to be part of LLS’s mission.
