NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

After Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday...
IT'S GIVING TUESDAY!!!
Join us on November 28th as we fundraise for The Academy!
Over twenty of our students are helping with our Giving Tuesday campaign by writing, producing and editing numerous videos about why they are grateful for attending The Academy. We will be sharing theses videos with you later this month.
Help us reach our goal of $30,000 this year by supporting us and sharing our social media posts and emails with your friends, family and colleagues.
We can't do it without you and every gift counts.
Our Founder's Day is coming up on Friday, December 7th. We would love you to join us! Our senior class will be opening the time capsule that was buried in the front lawn by the Class of 1985.
Here is a tentative agenda so you can plan your day accordingly:
  • 8:30-9:30am Meet & Greet/Continental Breakfast
  • 9:30-10:00am Open Time Capsule
  • 10:00-11:00am Panel Discussion with Student Questions
  • 11:00-11:30am Tour The Academy
We still have a few spots open on the panel. If you are interested in participating as a panelist, send me an email with your CV and class year at your earliest convenience. We are limited to 10 panelists and would like to have a broad generational representation of both professional and personal experiences.
You do not have to participate as a panelist to attend.
RSVP to mknight@aose.info.
Class Captains
As part of the Alumnae Association we will be asking for one representative from each graduating class who will act in the role of a class captain.
Role & Responsibilities:
  • Single point of contact for each class
  • Coordinate individual class reunions night before the annual luncheon which will now be taking place on graduation day every year
  • Help provide current classmate information for annual reunions
  • Act as a social media ambassador sharing information with alumnae online throughout the year
Please let me know if you are interested in being a Class Captain.

Young Alumnae Luncheon
Please join us when you are home for winter break for our annual Christmas Assembly. The students and faculty look forward to catching up with you when you come back to visit.

SAVE THE DATE!
We are hosting an annual all class reunion beginning with a baccalaureate mass for the Class of 2019. If you are interested in volunteering to help coordinate the details of this event, please let me know. If anyone has a connection to a DJ in the area, can you pass along their information to me? I welcome all your suggestions for making this event fun and worthwhile.
A New Tradition Steeped in Meaning
Invitation for our alumnae to write letters
to our graduating seniors.
Criteria for Letters:
Your letter can include how your experience at the Academy shaped your life while sending well wishes to the graduating young women as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
This is a great opportunity for ALL alumnae, both near and far, who wish to remain connected to The Academy especially with our newest alumnae. Emailed letters are preferred so I can transfer your text to The Academy’s letterhead and create a digital signature for you. It would be great if you share your address, phone number and email address with the graduates so they able to thank you if they are so inclined. If you would not like to share your information, other than your name and graduating year, that’s fine too. Just let me know your preference.
Every senior will receive your letter. We are hoping our young women will treasure these meaningful keepsakes of their graduation for many years to come while creating a new tradition steeped in a camaraderie only women from The Academy can share for generations.

It's not too late! You can still buy tickets to Comedy Night! Send me an email with the number of tickets you'd like and I will connect with you the Parents Association. Thank you for your support!

Check out the comedian Robin Fox by clicking on the invitation or this link: https://youtu.be/ThIMQM4y7EI

Tickets are also available for the $10,000 tuition raffle. Each $100 ticket gives you a chance to win $10,000 for ANY educational institution or 529 account.

CALLING ALL ALUMNAE!

You do not have to participate as a panelist to attend. We will have other activities for you to be involved in throughout the morning. RSVP to mknight@aose.info

Just a quick THANK YOU to everyone who completed the recent survey and to those who reached out with your warm and gracious well wishes. Your feedback and suggestions are so valuable.
I am in the process of re-creating an Alumnae Association and will reach out to all those who have expressed interest in joining us once I have a working mission and structure to guide us through many initiatives and activities.
In the meantime, here are some priorities we will be working on together once the membership guidelines are created for the Alumnae Association.
  • Create a "SEAster Mentorship Program" to pair our alumnae and students based on industry experience and interest. There will be two parts of this program; a funding opportunity to underwrite the expenses associated with this program as well as the opportunity to donate your valuable time and guidance fostering the professional aspirations of our students. *If you are interested in sponsoring a student to mentor please send your CV to my attention including your most recent (and other relevant) professional experience. If you'd like to help fund this program, please contact me for more information.
  • Manage the Alumnae contact information for all classes which will involve data entry and a fair amount of research online.
  • Invite and welcome all Alumnae to The Academy's many events throughout the year.
  • Select "Alumnae Ambassadors" for representation at our numerous Open Houses hosted by Jean Jackson, Director of Admissions, for prospective Academy families.
  • Plan, organize and host an Annual All Class Reunion to be hosted at The Academy.
  • Create a "Membership Alumnae Program" with management of annual dues and benefits for existing alumnae and all future classes.
  • Volunteer opportunities with the Development Department to help send our donor thank you letters, make stewardship phone calls to our supporters and host a phone-a-thon for #GivingTuesday.
Tickets are $45 each/Checks payable to AOSE and can be mailed to:
Parents Association c/o Geradline Kilgore, 8 Academy Road, Madison, NJ 07940
