Faith, Ministry & Service

The Academy of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth. Our Common Mission Statement with the Sisters of Charity is singly and collectively to:
  • Educate young women in the Catholic tradition by emphasizing Gospel values rooted in the love of God and neighbor
  • Focus our efforts on educational excellence for young women of diverse backgrounds and abilities, empowering them for leadership, responsibility, and commitment flowing from these Gospel values
  • Promote charity, community, justice, service, and collaboration

To achieve this mission at the Academy, we focus on three main aspects of the Catholic faith:

List of 3 items.

  • Liturgies and Masses

    • Pope Francis stated, “Liturgy needs to return to the center of the Christian faith.” With this in mind, our liturgical celebrations, held in Holy Family Chapel, gather our community around the Table of the Lord in union with all Catholics and Christians throughout the world. Annual liturgies and Masses include:
      • Opening School Mass
      • Bishop’s Mass
      • Hispanic Heritage Mass
      • Thanksgiving Prayer Service
      • Junior Ring Mass & Ceremony
      • Catholic Schools Week Mass
      • Lent Prayer Service
      • Baccalaureate Mass
    • In these liturgies and Masses, students participate as Altar Servers, Readers, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
  • Retreats

    • Annual retreats are hosted for each grade which highlight the themes of Bonding, Belonging, Believing, and Boundlessness. Each retreat is designed to be a day that nourishes each student’s mind, body, and spirit while enhancing faith formation and team building. Retreats are hosted both on and off campus, providing greater diversity of experience for our students.
      • Freshman Retreat – Bonding
      • Sophomore Retreat – Belonging
      • Junior Retreat – Believing
      • Senior Retreat – Boundlessness
    • Retreats occur both on-and-off campus, depending on the grade level.
    • Faculty, staff, and guest speakers also take part in these retreats, creating bonds not only between our students, but also with faculty and staff members.
  • Community Service

    • Giving back to our local, national, and global communities are essential hallmarks of the faith imbued at the Academy. Various extracurricular programs encourage our students to use their God-given talents to better the world around them. Such programs include:
      • Toward Boundless Charity
      • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Union
      • Bridges Outreach
      • Annual Day of Service
      • Panther Ministry Summer Program
    • One of the Academy's five core values, service, creates a sense of responsibility within our students reminiscent of the ways St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Vincent de Paul reached out to the marginalized of society.
